Contents of the Collection
The Donald T. Hayes World War II Collection includes items accumulated by Sgt. Donald T. Hayes of the 452nd Bomb Group, ball turret gunner of the B-17 Flying Fortress "Tangerine." The collection includes Air Medal citations, a 452nd Bomb Group Lucky Bastard Club certificate and a "magnetic" style photo album with 113 black-and-white photos. Abstract
Michael T. Russo (1920-2006) was born in Cleveland, Ohio and joined the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1941 as a fighter pilot. Russo attained Ace status while fighting in the European and Mediterranean Theaters of Operation. The collection contains photographs, textual materials and ephemera related to the World War II experience of American Fighter Ace Michael T. Russo.
